Meet the Team at Forbes

  • Kathryn Forbes Kathryn Forbes Principal Broker

Kathryn R.I.B. (Ont.) C.A.I.B was born and raised in Cambridge (Preston), Ontario and she currently resides in the Cambridge area with her husband. Her parents were both in the insurance business and so talk of the insurance industry was a common topic at the family dinner table. Joining the family business seemed like a natural progression.

She obtained her Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker designation in 2002 and secured her Level 2 unrestricted Insurance Broker’s license shortly thereafter. Kathryn enjoys the fact that she has the opportunity to be able to meet and talk with a vast diversity of new people in her work

"I am very fortunate to be able to work directly with our clients to lend my expertise regarding all aspects of insurance."

She is passionate about physical fitness, healthy eating and travelling, especially to Italy. She has taken up learning the game of golf and she also enjoys kayaking, reading, gardening, cooking and hosting dinners for friends and family. One of her pet charities is the Canadian Cancer Society and so she contributes time and money to this worthy cause.

  • Susan Benson Susan Benson Broker/Customer Service

Sue, R.I.B. (Ont.) C.I.P. was born and raised in Cambridge (Galt) - and lived in Cambridge most of her life. She has been quite a sightseer in terms of putting down roots over the years. She’s spent time living in cities such as Pictou, Nova Scotia, Owen Sound, Durham and Kincardine. Even with the exposure to different cities, she will always consider herself a proud Galtonian. Sue has been part of the Insurance Industry for over 35 years, securing her Chartered Insurance Professional designation in 2011.

"I feel as though I have come full circle in my career. I started at Edgar Insurance (in Preston) after school when I was 16 years old which started my insurance career. I was a broker for 15 years then had the opportunity to work at Gore Mutual, I was there for 18 years starting with personal insurance then moved to the commercial side of things, they are a great company. In March 2020 I had the amazing opportunity to work for Kathryn and I couldn’t refuse. It has been a great decision. Everyone has been so welcoming. I recently obtained my broker license again. I started my career with my sister Shelley (who also works at Forbes Insurance) and am happy we are working together again, family is very important to me.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know our clients. "

Sue enjoys spending time with her son and daughter, friends and family. While she worked at Gore, she participated in Hearts in Action, donated time to Meals on Wheels as well as Argus House. She was also part of the social committee for 6 years. She freely admits that when it’s time to relax…there is nothing like a good game of Candy Crush.

  • Lisa Lisa Cabral Broker/Customer Service

Lisa, R.I.B. (Ont.) was born in Hamilton, but raised on a small farm in Mountsberg, Ontario. She married her teenage sweetheart from Cambridge and together they started a life closer to their jobs in the GTA. Soon after the birth of their son, they decided to move back to Cambridge, having missed that small town feeling. They arrived back “home” to Cambridge in 2004 and welcomed a daughter not long after. Lisa operated a home daycare for 20 years. Now that their children are grown, Lisa went back to school in the summer of 2021 and successfully passed her RIBO exam with honours.

"I am excited to be starting a new chapter in my life with such genuine ‘characters’ like Kathryn, Shelley and Sue in my book! They are truly a kind group of ladies who really care about their clients. I feel a great sense of community working at Forbes, very much like I did growing up in the very small town of Mountsberg. I have been a Forbes client for over a decade and am eager to get to know my fellow Forbes clients. I will strive to provide exceptional service to you as Forbes has always provided to me!”

Lisa enjoys spending time with her family whether it be on “Family Game Nights” or watching sports games on T.V. (especially the Blue Jays and the Montreal Canadiens). She likes to read and bake. Although, she doesn’t eat most of what she bakes (seriously lacking a sweet tooth)! She believes that there is nothing quite as nice as a warm blanket in front of a warm fireplace and being wrapped in a big warm hug!

  • Sherry Morley Sherry Morley Bookkeeping/Accounting

Sherry is our stellar bookkeeper at Forbes Insurance. With 14 years’ experience in the bookkeeping, accounting and payroll field, she brings a high level of financial knowledge to our business.

She is an accredited Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP). As a QuickBooks Pro-advisor, she is able to train and advise in bookkeeping/accounting requirements – we can tell you that, in a complex field of business, we value this skill immensely.

Sherry had a wonderful Accountant mentor while working with multiple brokerages through the years and is able to provide complete year-end and RIBO position reports/financials. She has strong alliances with numerous accounting firms and is well-versed with Canada Revenue, HST and RST processes, and including daily bookkeeping essentials.

Sherry cherishes spending time with her family. They can often be found at their vacation home playing in the water or skiing the hill in the winter.

She enjoys many indoor and outdoor activities. She plays in multiple leagues, Badminton, Volleyball and Ladies Golf. Sherry is the Treasurer of Cambridge Badminton Club.

  • Shelley Fraser Shelley Fraser Broker/Customer Service

Shelley, R.I.B. (Ont.) C.I.P., was born in Nova Scotia, moving to Cambridge (Galt) at a very young age. Eventually she moved to Preston for her high school years and hasn’t left our great community.

She obtained her broker’s licence in 1976 and has been working as a broker since then. She obtained her Chartered Insurance Professional designation in 1987.

“I started my career with a local family brokerage, and have worked for a few different firms over the years. I joined Forbes as a part-timer in late 2019, after briefly trying “full retirement”. I really enjoy working with Kathryn and Courtney, and especially appreciate the opportunity to work again with my sister, Sue. We have the nicest clients, and I love being able to help them with their insurance. Working for a family owned firm suits my nature because of the opportunity to build relationships with my co-workers as well as my clients.”

Shelley enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons and extended family. She enjoys cooking, reading, a nice walk, travel, a good movie, a great concert and a good old belly laugh.
